I want to start by saying I am eternally grateful to Lucy of Travelling_Lucy for nominating me!  Lucy is a British blogger who travels across the world, capturing her adventures on camera which she shares with excellent travel tips through both her blog and Instagram. What is the Liebster Award? The Liebster Award is an online only award which is given to bloggers by other bloggers. It began back in 2011 as a way of giving exposure to lesser known blogs. The word “Liebster” originates from German and can be translated into a few different meanings such as “kindest, dearest, sweetest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant and nicest” – to which I am really humbled to be nominated such an award!

My 11 questions from Travelling_Lucy:

1. Have you had any major fails or bad things happen on any of your trips?

As far as I can remember there hasn’t been any majorly bad things to happen! I’ve been quit fortunate enough to have had all good experiences whilst abroad.

2. Do you regret visiting anywhere? If so, where did you regret visiting and why?

I’ve loved every travel I’ve been on so far and I hope it stays this way!

3. What one song makes you remember all your memories from travelling?

There is one song that stands out to me when I went to Tenerife about 4 years ago. This Wild Life made a gorgeous acoustic cover of Bring Me The Horizon’s song ‘Sleepwalking‘. I found it just as I was on my way to tenerife in 2013 and couldn’t stop listening to it throughout the holiday. It’s a very chilled and beautiful rendition of one of my favourite songs!

4. Where is your favourite destination?

My family and I went to Cuba 2 years ago for Christmas and I can truly say it is one of the most beautiful places to go. The tropical climate and weather is amazing, especially sitting by the pool as you bathed in the warm sunlight, reading a good book whilst guzzling down all the free alcohol! Seeing all the old american cars in their pristine conditions is almost like going back in time 50 years! Swimming with dolphins on christmas day was an incredible experience, but I think what made being in Cuba so special was meeting such humble and giving people. It is already widely known that parts of Cuba itself is bordering the lines of poverty. When you leave the airport and enter into the vast tropical landscapes of Cuba, you are instantly hit with the reality of how some of these people live. It can be quite a shock to the system as you drive past the slums and built up shacks, it’s like entering another world. The people of Cuba are kind, grateful and look out for each other. Seeing people give so much when they have little themselves is something that makes you take a step back and see how lucky we really are living in the comfort of the UK. If you ever have the chance to go to Cuba be sure to go into the villages, meet the locals and see the real Cuba! I would love to go back!

5. What country or city do you want to visit the most?

I’ve always wanted to go to Scotland or Ireland! I’d love to visit Finland, Scandinavia, Holland or Denmark and look at all the ancient Norse settlements! The countries look gorgeous! Rome or France would be lovely nice too, I think it’s safe to say the list is endless!

6. Have you traveled to a place that you couldn’t wait to get out of?

Luckily I’ve really enjoyed all the places i’ve visited! I’ve been to Lanzarote and our hotel wasn’t that great, but it’s what you make of it that makes a great holiday!

7. If you could move to any other country in the world, where would you move to?

This is a hard one as i’ve not been abroad that often! I would like to say somewhere like Canada, from what i’ve heard it’s quite nice there!

8. What is your number one travel essential?

Probably a good book! As much as I love seeing the world in all it’s glory, I don’t think anything beats kicking back at the end of the day and reading a good story!

9. Do you prefer to travel alone, in a group or with a partner/friend?

I do like wandering off and exploring alone but I don’t think I could travel to a country all by myself. Having someone there to watch your back and having company to share in the experiences is what I love best!

10. What’s the scariest thing that’s happened on a trip? (if any)

When I was maybe 7 or 8 years old my family and I went to Greece, and I remember wandering off (still hasn’t changed) and getting lost around the hotel we stayed in. The place was massive and I was so frightened my family had left me behind, I remember that scene from Home Alone  when the mum goes ‘KEVIN!!’ on the plane running through my head! I thought it had become reality and I was stuck in Greece forever. Thankfully the hotel staff helped me find my family, who were back at our room. Turns out I had only been gone 10 minutes. Good times!

11. Where are you planning to travel to next?

I’ve recently been speaking to an old friend of mine who shares my interest in the ancient castles of England! We’re planning with a group of friends to travel across the United Kingdom and see all these amazing places! I believe our first destination to explore is Arundel Castle, which I luckily live down the road from!

Thanks again Lucy for the nomination! I can definitely say you’ve inspired me to immerse myself in blogging properly now! I wish you luck on all your travels 🙂
